Description
This type of vase is typical of the Han dynasty: cylindrical body resting on three feet in the shape of a crouching bear and conical lid with strong figurative relief. The central part is decorated with a large band in relief delimited by two
pushou
masks. The scenes reproduced on both sides of the vase depict, against the background of a mountainous landscape, a bear, a tiger, a monkey, a dragon, a deer, a phoenix, a wild boar, an “immortal” alongside birds. The lid reproduces four mountains or rocks surrounded by waves and a fifth peak in the center. An amber display case is added to the green glazing that covers the entire vase on the rim of the lid and the feet.
