Buddhist statue
The sculpture depicts a Buddha in high relief, flanked by two Bodhisattvas, against a lanceolate leaf-shaped plate. The casting is generally inaccurate, and the figures appear sketchy. The Buddha is in a rigidly standing pose, his right hand in abhayamudra and his left in varadamudra, his heavy robes treated in schematic drapery and his head crowned with a voluminous ushnisha (rouji). The halo surrounding the Buddha's head is characterized by simple lines that trace the outline of a six-petalled flower. The Buddha rests his large bare feet on a hemispherical pedestal placed above the actual base. At the top of this base, two lateral branches branch out and here rest the two Bodhisattvas, standing, with their hands clasped in anjalimudra, the pointed halo and one of the shoulders joined to the large leaf.
