TWIN VESSELS
c. 2400-1950 BCE
Pink-beige earthenware
Cn/16
11,4 x 21,4 x 8,5/8,8 cm
Vessel
Provenance: North-western China (Gansu-Qinghai)
Double vessel rather asymmetrical and made without particular care. Two globular jars connected to the middle of the belly by a short hollow tubular connection, to the edge by a curved loop. The handle is engraved longitudinally. The only decorative element is constituted by a strip of serrated clay, applied under the edge of the containers. The outer surface of the vessels has vertical imprints of ropes, and the bottom is flat. One has its base deeply imprinted with woven wickers and its lower belly blackened by soot; in the other, the rope imprints on the belly are almost erased and the surface is rough.
