Additional Infos
Provenance: North-western China (Gansu)
Description
The vessel has the shape of a deep cup, with a large flared neck and a bulge at the bottom – perhaps corresponding to the connection between the two constituent parts of the container. The bottom was trimmed with a spatula, which gave the base a square shape with rounded corners. Regular parallel streaks on the inner and outer surfaces indicate the use of the lathe at least for finishing the object. Below the thin hem, three thin ribbon-like loops connected to the lower protrusion are applied at equal distances.
