Provenance: Zhejiang, Yue kilns
Description
The model, of poor workmanship, is hollow and lacks a base. It's shape recalls the inverted half hull of a vessel. The almost square mouth of the kiln opens in the centre of the semicircular front. Rhomboid screens are engraved on the sides and above the opening as part of the decoration. On the upper, curved plane, two holes were drilled where two models of pots were applied before firing. This type kiln model is very common in tombs of the Lower Yangzi Region from the second half of the 3rd century CE.
