31,1 x 25,4 cm x 17,6-18,6 cm

Provenance: North-western China (Gansu)
The shape of this vessel is typical of Xindian ceramic. It has a high and wide curved neck, with an expanded rim, grafted onto a slightly convex shoulder which, having reached its maximum diameter, gradually closes towards the base of the container. The painted decoration consists of wide brown bands with black streaks. In the wide band on the neck, the outlines of four birds painted black stand out. The decoration on the shoulder of the jar is very evident, with four geometric motifs painted in contoured brown bands and streaked with black. The patterns have rounded ends and are symmetrical two by two.
