Provenance: North-western China (Gansu-Qinghai)
Globular olla of fine workmanship and decoration in horizontal bands. It is slightly flattened in shape, expanded at the top and tapered towards the narrow base, with a very flared neck. Two eyelet loops are applied symmetrically below the maximum diameter of the container. Another eight equally spaced grips surround the shoulder. The decoration on the shoulder is composed of a series of rhombuses between two black bands. A red line at the height of the perforated grips underlines the passage between the shoulder and belly of the vessel. The decorative band below, limited to the upper half of the olla up to the two handles, takes up the frieze of the shoulder. The perforated grips are unusual and give this vase an original character.
