Description
This jar has the shape and decoration typical of the oldest terracottas of the Majiayao type, characterized by the high quality of the dough, the angular profile of the vessel and the rich painting with horizontal bands. It has a short flared neck with an everted hem and a strongly expanded shoulder. Once the maximum diameter is reached, a blunt edge is created at the junction with the belly, under which the vessel gradually narrows to the flat bottom. The decoration painted in black and white is limited to the upper part of the vase above the handles, which is smooth as if covered with a slip.
