At the top is a semicircular ring; on both sides, near the edge, there is a circular hole approximately 1 cm in diameter into which a leather strap can be passed to secure it to the head. Numerous bronze helmets virtually identical to the piece in question have been discovered in northern China, especially in the vicinity of Beijing, Inner Mongolia, and Liaoning Province.
