Description
This refined
gui
tripod represents a rare typology in the context of white terracottas in the final stage of the Dawenkou culture. The three mammelliform feet are applied at the bottom to the broad, flattened body. The thin raised connection line under the shoulder is the only decorative element of the vessel. The large handle connects the shoulder with the back foot, and is located on the same axis as the neck. This is chalice-shaped with an everted rim and a clamped front spout: it is inserted into the upper part of the vessel, slightly advanced and centered with respect to the two front feet.
