Description
The shape and decoration of this globular vessel is intended to imitate a woven wicker or bamboo basket. The rim of the wide opening is recessed and slightly raised, the shoulder is strongly expanded, and the belly gradually narrows towards the flat base, approximately as wide as the opening of the jar. The walls, thick towards the bottom, taper at the top towards the edge. A decoration imprinted with relief motifs covers almost the entire external surface: it reproduces the diagonal intertwining of eight overlapping plant strips. The clay is uniformly covered with a translucent glaze, also poured inside where it has formed light brown and olive green patches.
