Provenance: Shaanxi - Henan
The slender female character on horseback is bent backwards. Her hair, rendered with dense incisions, is combed in a bland bun behind her head. She wears a long crew neck tunic, with side slits, tied at the waist with a belt. The right arm is abandoned at the side, with the long, narrow hanging sleeve of the tunic hiding the hand. The left arm is folded over the abdomen. It looks like the woman is wearing boots. The small saddle rests on a raised quadrangular caparison on the horse's rump. This, small and stocky, is portrayed in a static frontal position. The manes are styled in the typical Tang style: a short, upturned, braided and tied tail; a combed mane on the left side of the neck and divided into two tufts above the ears. The figurine retains traces of the original cold pigmentation.
