Description
This elegant camel figurine was made by joining two reflecting molds. The animal rests its leg in a static pose and holds up its small, incised head with lively eyes and small ears and tufts of hair above its forehead. The long, robust 'crescent-shaped' neck still has traces of black pigment on the throat. The deeply hollowed belly, the small pointed humps and the short raised tail, all accentuate the sudden leap of rear of the body. Overall, the figurine has a sinuous profile. The drape that covers the animal's back - with special holes for its humps - is suggested only by deep lines incised around the humps and along the profile of the two baskets.
