Statue of Bodhisattva
The Bodhisattva sits in lalitasana on a quadrangular seat with a platform, which might not have been the original support. The feet are stocky, the hands long and slender. The left leg is folded next to the body with the sole of the foot resting on the seat, the right falls vertically with the foot on the platform; the left arm rests relaxed on the thigh of the corresponding leg, with the hand supporting in the palm a sphere from which emerges a twisting growth (flaming pearl?); the other hand is raised in front of the chest to form the argumentation gesture (vitarkamudra). The head is crowned by a circle diadem, decorated in the central part of an elaborate floral decoration. The face has fine, regular features. The mouthis surrounded by a curled moustache adnd goatee divided into three wavy tufts. The hair, beard and sphere are black, and the only non-gold parts of the figurine.
