Beige earthenware, green glaze
Cv/75.D
28,9 x 14,4 x 12,3 cm
Support
The lamp is shaped like a configured stem, resting on a high flared base and supporting a low truncated cone-shaped cup. The creature depicted, with an anthropomorphic body and animal head, is kneeling with its hands on its knees above a round hoof. The huge head certainly recalls the fanciful depictions of the bear in Han iconography, but it more closely resembles that of a mouse. It has a long, pointed snout, a large, open mouth with a shaped tongue, but shows no teeth or fangs. A rather thick glazing completely covers the lamp.
